A group of 60 musicians gave a heart-warming fund-raising
performance
at a pub in Batu Ferringhi, Penang to help a friend in need of
immediate medical attention.
The charity show, held at ROZELLS Country & Western And Oldies Pub
& Restaurant from 4.30 pm on Sunday to 12.30 am on Monday raised
RM3,700 for freelance singer Samynzan, 57, fondly known as Sam,
who is now warded at a hospital. The event saw a tremendous sense
of camaraderie among the musicians who wanted to send out a
message to Sam that his friends care for and would be there for
him.
ROZELLS pub owner James A Rozells said the idea was mooted by a
few musicians after they came to know that Sam, who was with the
70's group called Freeloaders, had been admitted to the hospital.
Proceeds from the sale of sandwiches, nasi lemak, mee hoon
and drinks went toward the fund. He had problems with his bowels
and had sought treatment that went wrong and infected his
intestines. He is responding to treatment and is now recuperating.
"I have also appealed to my pub patrons to donate generously to
help him," said Rozells, a musician himself, adding that he had
set up a donation box at the pub for this purpose. |

Mary Carlos, Christopher, Ivan, Vijay, Bobby Khoo and Soowit
Aroonratana fondly known as Oot. |
